Yaozhu Li is a Ph.D. candidate at Western University, supervised by Dr. Phil McCausland and Dr. Roberta Flemming, studying achondrites formation and deformation using terrestrial samples as the comparison. He researches microstructure developments in olivine grains in ureilites, lunar breccia, and martian SNC meteorites to understand their deformation history. Yaozhu has won several awards and grants for his proposed research. Recently, his proposed research on geochemistry in lunar breccia won GSA Graduate Research Award and was further selected by Bayerisches Geoinstitut to conduct a short-term research internship in the 2023 Spring working with Dr. Audrey Bouvier, where he will study REE abundance and U/Pb isotopes in newly classified lunar breccia and Apollo samples.
