Alan Keese grew up in Southern California. He has had a life-long interest in science—particularly astronomy—and in exploring untouched wilderness areas. He earned BS and MS degrees in engineering from UC Berkeley, followed by a career in Petroleum Engineering. Most of his work has been in foreign countries. A first assignment was in Saudi Arabia. He returned there after breaking off to obtain an MBA and serve three-year postings in Malaysia and Trinidad. He and his wife presently live in Houston, Texas.
