Huckitta, Australia

Most of the Huckitta pallasite no longer has metal and shows only hematite and weathered olivine. However, a small amount of fresh metal Huckitta is in existence. The above photo is of such a piece. The 1411 kg piece of Huckitta recovered in 1924 is the largest single piece of pallasite. At the time of its discovery 900 kg of iron shale were found surrounding the specimen.
