In addition to the large tektites that we are familiar with are vast numbers of microscopic tektites. They are found usually only in deep sea cores. However, there are a small number of locations where these micro-tektites can be found on land. One of these sediments is found in Haiti. Some of the tiny objects are shown in the following photographs. These formed in the Yucatan impact so they are very old. They are devitrified for the most part; many are hollow and broken. The first shot shows a rather large one in the matrix of the very friable rock. The next two pictures are of small ones that have been teased out of the matrix. The pictures were take at about 50X through a microscope as stills from a video camera.
