Billitonite Tektite

Billitonites are found in old gravels and tin mines in several areas on Billiton Island. These tektites were originally described as obsidian of Billiton by Van Dijk in 1879. Many specimens are so deeply etched so that the remaining portions have a skeletal appearance. This perfect specimen was recovered from one of the tin mines.
